PINKOW polymeric thin-layer concrete is a composite material made of modified cements, reinforcing polymers, hard aggregates, mineral pigments, and approved additives. Designed as a flooring solution with high mechanical strength and adhesion, it is applied in thicknesses ranging from 10 to 30 millimeters. This product is applied over existing substrates or concrete using a trowel and is ideal for applications where a thin, durable, and aesthetically pleasing surface is required.

polymeric thin-layer concrete can be applied in thicknesses ranging from 10 to 30 millimeters in a single layer directly onto old concrete. By finishing with a power trowel, a seamless and impermeable surface can be achieved, making it suitable for both industrial and decorative environments.

This product exhibits high adhesion and resistance to compression, bending, and abrasion. Given the expectation of high durability, it should be subjected to a 21-day immersion test in water and other methods to prevent sudden water expulsion.

Additionally, after the substrate is completely dry, a specific coating (L3 sealer) can be applied and polished to achieve a glossy, light-reflective surface with higher abrasion resistance.

The power trowel finish ensures a smooth and durable surface, ideal for industrial settings.

Method of use

  • First, weak areas of the substrate are removed to ensure a firm and solid surface. Then, using a specialized grooving machine, the surface is grooved so that the substrate acts like a nail bed, preparing it for the application of thin-layer polymer concrete.
  • Grooving the surface can be performed in several ways, with the aim of increasing the adhesion of the thin-layer polymer concrete to the surface and improving control of the mortar shrinkage.
  • After grooving the surface, it is cleaned with a high-pressure water jet to remove any grease, dust, or contaminants.
  • In the next step, the thin-layer polymer concrete powder is mixed with a specific percentage of water (approximately 1% of the powder weight) using a mixer. The prepared mortar is poured onto the substrate and after a specified time, the surface is finished using a power trowel.
  • The finished surface is cut at regular intervals with a cutter for up to 84 hours to control cracking.
  • To achieve a high-quality flooring in terms of compressive, flexural, and abrasion resistance, curing and avoidance of heavy traffic must be carefully performed for up to 12 days.
